New King Street 1929
This photo shows a north view from Evelyn Street junction with New King Street. In the distance right hand side you can see a gateway. Is this the Victualing Yard entrance?
If the photograph is correctly described, then the gateway is the entrance to the dockyard. In 1929 both paper and chilled / frozen meat importers were on site.
The entrance to the Royal Victoria Victualling Yard was / is on Grove Street.

Thanks for the info Bill. The photo is correct and somewhere in the back of my mind I have seen a photo with the arch and lamp at the entrance.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it could be the entrance to where Convoys was
