This website is dedicated to the past History of Deptford. If you have any stranger than fiction stories about Deptford I would welcome your input. This may include stories of the people, the places still here or long gone, the characters, the war years, ghost stories and haunted places, ancient buildings and bygone memories, long forgotten.

Wesleyan Chapel, Mary Ann’s Buildings colour artwork showing exterior of Wesleyan Chapel, Mary-Ann’s Buildings, High Street 1856 by Frederick Ashford
The watercolour is by my ancestor Frederick Ashford, artist, writer and traveller, son of John Ashford who built many of the larger properties in Lewisham and Deptford area. Some years ago I discovered in Lewisham library archives several volumes of cutting's collected by Frederick Ashford plus the volume of paintings and descriptions that I had auctioned. Any further info about Frederick and where and when he died I would be grateful to know Amanda CD
